Network 20 publishes its equipping materials in a series of four on a monthly basis. This month the series is titled “Jesus Said I AM.” The four lessons are based on the seven “I Am statements of Jesus,” found in the Gospel of John. Those statements are:
- I am the bread of life. (John 6:35)
- I am the light of the world. (John 8:12)
- I am the gate. (John 10:9)
- I am the good shepherd. (John 10:11)
- I am the resurrection and the life. (John 11:25)
- I am the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6)
- I am the true vine. (John 15:1)
In the first lesson of the series, the author writes:
In John 6:35, Jesus said that He is the bread of life. Whoever comes to Him will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Him will never be thirsty. What a promise for those who follow Jesus!
Jesus also brings truth and guides people who are in darkness. In John 8:12, He shows that the light of the gospel points the way, standing completely against the darkness of the world where disciples live.
This way is a path of truth and love. It’s not just a set of rules, a religion, or even Christian morality—it’s a Person: “I am…” Jesus also says, “Whoever follows me… will have the light of life.”
