When discipling, it is important to dig deep into the knowledge a young man has regarding God. Also, reflected in the knowledge may be his love for God.
Questions such as 1. Who is God the Father to you? 2. Who is Jesus to you? And 3. Who is Holy Spirit to you? Help the disciple-maker investigate a young man’s potential to flourish in relationship with Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.
How can you flourish in relationship with God when you don’t know or love Him. It is impossible!
Always, our knowledge and love should be based in the truth of Scripture. Today there is much false teaching. When asking these three questions, it should be clear to you whether the young man is reciting something he heard from secularized religion or he was taught from the Word of God.
After asking each question, continue to ask follow-up questions. Avoid “yes or no” questions. Dig deep into the young man’s relationship God by asking good questions. As needed, be sure to not overwhelm the young man you are discipling by offering one statement after another, but overtime share the truth of the Bible with him.
Both of you should have the Bible in front of you as you explore together who is Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Search the Scripture for truth!
