Praying Like Jesus

Network 20’s equipping lessons for November are titled “Praying Like Jesus.” Mark Alain Reyes, a Network 20
disciple-maker living in The Philippines, wrote the series. In the first lesson titled “Practicing Solitude,” Pastor
Alain writes, “Jesus made it a priority to spend quiet time with the Father. He got up early, while it was still dark,
and went to a lonely place to pray, showing that clarity and spiritual strength come from being alone with the
Father in prayer.”

Also in the first lesson, Pastor Alain references Mark 1:35-39. Very early in the morning, while it was still dark,
Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to
look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go
somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled
throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. (Mark 1:35-39 NIV)

In response to Jesus’ example, you may want to consider the following questions:

1) When and where do you take time to pray like Jesus?

2) What is one obstacle you can remove to protect that time?
