Testimony from Benin

This young man, Barnabé, has been coming to my church for almost eight months. He recently joined the preparatory class for water baptism. This Thursday, I was working in one of the mission rooms when he came to see me. He said, and I quote, “Pastor, pray for me. I have been coming to church for a few months. I have given my life to the Lord, but I still struggle with alcohol and impure thoughts. The other day after work, I went to the local liquor store to buy more. That day, they were out, and while I was walking home, I slipped near an unfinished well, about two to three meters deep. I had to shout for help so that neighbors could pull me out. As I thought about what happened, I felt ashamed and sorry for my life, and I decided to fast so that the Lord would free me completely from these struggles. Pray for me, Pastor.” …And he got down on his knees and we prayed together.

Dear disciple makers from all over the world, know that the more we dedicate ourselves, the Lord will make us like magnets. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will attract young men who need our testimony and our prayers to go through the same deserts we have faced. Let us be reassured, because the Lord reassures us in Jeremiah 15:19: “Therefore thus says the Lord: If you return, then I will bring you back; you shall stand before Me. If you take out the precious from the vile, you shall be as My mouth. Let them return to you, but you must not return to them.” (NKJV)
