In this month’s equipping series on being a fully committed disciple of Jesus, author Patrick Milazi writes on the topic of “Serving with Passion.” He tells the below story.

When I was in secondary school, I struggled to do the work of God. My parents were committed to church and, as a result, I helped clean the church. I served because I was told to do the work, not because I wanted to serve God in that way. Even going to church was to please my parents. My driving force was my parents. As a result, I looked forward to my independence so that I could do the things my flesh wanted.

When I was in high school, I gave my life to Jesus and I started serving God with passion. No one could stop me from cleaning the church! No one could stop me from attending church! I lived with passion out of my newfound conviction about God and His love for me.

From high school until today, I serve the Lord with passion. It does not matter the place where God is sending me—in my town or another, within my country or outside my country—I serve with determination. When the flesh wanted me to serve it with passion, Jesus by His Spirit came and transformed me to serve Him with passion.

Let’s serve with passion out of dedication to God, not to satisfy the flesh. Also, let’s make disciples who serve with passion.
