You have heard it said “Preach the Gospel at all times, when necessary, use words.” Some say this is a quote from St. Francis of Assisi. Others disagree. It really doesn’t matter who said it. What matters is that Jesus would NEVER make such a statement.
As disciples of Jesus, we are to imitate Jesus. Constantly He focused on His Father and advanced His Father’s Kingdom. We, like Jesus, should focus all of our attention on speaking about our Father and His agenda. Absolutely, we should use words. In fact, words should come first. Our actions should follow our words.
Daily we experience interacting with kind, thoughtful, generous people who don’t know Jesus. Such people are everywhere. What we may not experience is relating to someone who is known as an amazing person who boldly stands up for their faith. We must be that bold person. Let’s shout Jesus from the mountain tops and display Him as given opportunity by our Great God.
Let’s not be silenced by old, familiar, quotations, but live, bold, outspoken lives declaring Jesus to everyone. Let’s teach others to do the same.
