In a world full of conflict and challenge, we must teach those we disciple to live according to a Biblical worldview. Instead of drowning in the worries of this life, we choose to rejoice. We choose joy!

Amirkhan Kazikhozhaev, the author of this month’s Network 20 equipping lessons, writes. . .

A very popular Scripture passage is “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! ”(Philippians 4:4) This verse motivates many Christians to be positive and rejoice, but do they understand Paul’s condition when writing this verse? He was in prison! Can you imagine rejoicing in that situation? Understanding Paul’s situation makes his words more powerful. The Greek word used in this verse is not a word of suggestion but a strong verb form that is a command. We must rejoice, no matter our situation. You have difficulties in life, but as it is written in Nehemiah 8:10, “. . . The joy of the Lord is your strength! ” Always, this should be our attitude. Every day, I choose to live in the joy of the Holy Spirit.
